Why You Must Have a FOB Draft System & How to Maintain Your FOB?

An FOB draft system is made to keep your beer lines filled with brew only. The FOB detects an empty drum and stops the flow of beer, eliminating the foam you get from an empty drum. It also remove the requirement to fill the pipes with beer and clear air from the draft system. If you don’t have a FOB installed on your brew line, when your drum empties, your faucet starts to spit and spray foam.




















With an FOB installed, you will not experience any foam formation when your drum is empty. Also, you don’t have to manually change the barrels as your faucet will immediately pour beer. No wasted foam, no downtime for your customers, and no extra labor costs involved when an employee has to spend hours cleaning the system where an empty barrel has made a chaos.

Generally the cost of saving beer provided by installing fob on your long runs is more important than efficiency. Without a fob installed each barrel change can waste up to 64 ounces of beer on your long beer lines. It's every time you change your drum. With a FOB draft system, the loss of beer through the foam is almost completely canceled. This draft system pays off almost immediately.

How does a FOB System work?

Brew flowing through the beer line and FOB lifts a float ball to the top of the system’s chamber. When your barrel begins to empty and the flow of beer is slower, the float ball falls inside the chamber. This leads instant sealing on the fob outlet, thus eliminating brew loss by cutting the flow in the system line when the barrel gets empty.

Cleaning and Maintenance of Beer FOBs

Fob system must be maintained and cleaned regularly, in the same way as the brew lines. While a beer line cleaner is great for taking care of all the organic waste accumulation in your fob system, it is not successful at clearing minerals that may have collected. You should also use an acidic brew line cleaner during the cleaning procedure as it is more acidic and can easily remove beer stones and mineral deposits.

If you have a company that cleans your beer pipes, make sure they clean both the pipes and fob system. The quality and taste of your brew depends as much on the clean fob draft system as clean brew lines.
